I recently assisted a local P&C to undertake a community survey as a starting point to improve local transport options, particularly for children travelling to and from school.
Information you may want to obtain through a survey:
Basic information about the respondent (age, relationship to the school/organisation)
Why they choose the transport mode (car, train, bike, walking etc) that they use
What are the barriers for them to switch to walking or cycling
Surveys are a useful way to obtain data to justify calls for infrastructure improvements. You can circulate the results among your community, and use them to guide conversations with local and state government representatives.
